Iranian officials deny large-scale oil spill near Khark Island

ChainThink report, on May 9 local time, the Chairman of Iran's Parliament Energy Committee stated that oil production is continuously underway across multiple oilfields nationwide, and actions targeting Iranian oil tankers are "completely illegal," yet the pressure on Iran's oil exports has not yielded significant results.

He also noted that official authorities have not received any reports regarding oil spills near the waters surrounding Khark Island.

Earlier media reports, citing satellite imagery, indicated a suspected large-scale crude oil spill near Khark Island, a critical Iranian oil export hub, with pollution covering tens of square kilometers of sea surface, sparking market concerns over Middle East energy supply and maritime security.

Around May 9 local time, Trump previously threatened within the past 24 hours that if no progress is made in the current situation, the U.S. might restart the "Freedom Initiative" in an upgraded version.

He also mentioned expecting an official response from Iran to the U.S. proposal, though upon returning to the White House, Trump did not confirm whether he had received Iran's reply.
