The Base ecosystem has been heating up recently, first with the "vvv" concept, then with $aeon. But if you're a newcomer to the Base ecosystem, figuring out who to follow and what's currently trending can be overwhelming—especially when it comes to "how to get up to speed quickly."
Chain-based trading terminals are now highly sophisticated. We frequently use platforms like gmgn to execute on-chain buys and sells. However, by leveraging additional features within these terminals, we can accelerate our onboarding into a new ecosystem.
Take gmgn as an example: its "Explore" feature includes a profitability ranking for addresses on the Base chain. By observing which assets these top-performing addresses have profited from recently, we can quickly gain initial insights into current ecosystem dynamics.
These two addresses rank #1 and #2 in 30-day profits and both carry a "Sniper" tag. My immediate assumption is that they're high-frequency traders who typically profit through rapid trades in meme coins. Therefore, I aim to use these two addresses to identify prevailing meme coin trends within the Base ecosystem.

Next, I analyze their profit sources in detail. The address at the top of the screenshot has made nearly $130K in profit, with $108K coming exclusively from $TSG.
Navigating to the token’s details page, I use the social media button to jump to its X (formerly Twitter) profile.

First, I verify the contract address (CA) and other metadata on the X profile to confirm this account genuinely corresponds to the token. Scrolling through posts, I discover this is a meme coin whose surge was fueled by influential figures chanting the slogan: “There is a sleeping giant sitting on Base rn.”

From the above screenshot, I can follow all accounts that have re-shared the official $TSG post. Using gmgn’s tracking functionality, I can add these accounts to my X monitoring list, enabling real-time alerts whenever they post.

$TSG once peaked at a market cap of $7M but rapidly declined afterward. At this point, I consider whether another mention of this narrative could trigger a rebound—presenting a potential second entry opportunity. I can further refine monitoring by setting up keyword alerts in gmgn for more precise real-time tracking.

Finally, I revisit the entry point of the large-profit address to confirm the timing. The purchase was indeed executed at a very low price, confirming this was a successful sniper trade.

At this stage, we’ve gathered:
- A high-profit address exhibiting early, low-entry sniper behavior. I mark this address in gmgn as, e.g., “$TSG Sniper – Made $100K,” and set up continuous tracking. For a more aggressive approach, I can enable small-scale copy-trading on this address and monitor performance; if the win rate drops, I pause the strategy.
- Current meme trend on Base. The coin gained traction due to celebrity-led rallying around a slogan. I add these influencers to my X tracking list. Going further, I can deep-dive into their engagement patterns and following lists to expand my database of key Base ecosystem influencers.
- A potential second-wave opportunity: if the slogan resurfaces, the price may rebound quickly.
Now turning to the second address, it has earned over $170K from $LFI with a holding period of 19 days—indicating a long-term position.
At this point, I assess the underlying theme: can we infer the dominant narrative in the Base ecosystem from this token? I directly search for LFI on ChainThink:

Reading ChainThink articles allows us to quickly understand project fundamentals and deeper on-chain trends. For instance, LFI represents RWA + team-backed tokenization, while AI projects on Base include the “vvv” concept and $aeon.
Naturally, this workflow can be inverted: for example, start by checking DexScreener for top-volume tokens on Base, then use gmgn to analyze profitable addresses and dissect narratives.
The ultimate goals remain consistent:
- Clarify the core narrative driving activity on the Base chain
- Expand the database of high-profit addresses and influential figures, tagging their styles for classification and real-time tracking
- Identify key inflection points for already moving tokens—up or down—and leverage tools to monitor them closely
Thanks to the mature suite of features available in modern trading terminals, newcomers no longer need to feel lost when entering a new ecosystem. There’s no need to spend hours aimlessly scrolling through X or Farcaster. This guide aims to help those just stepping into the Base ecosystem.
