ChainThink News, May 29: According to an official announcement, OpenAI has released the Frontier Governance Framework, outlining how its safety practices align with emerging regulatory requirements, including California's Frontier AI Transparency Act and the EU AI Act.
The framework builds upon OpenAI's Preparedness Framework, transforming internal risk management practices into publicly accessible governance documentation, with a primary focus on risk assessment and mitigation for frontier AI systems.
It covers major risk domains such as cyberattacks, CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear), malicious manipulation, and loss of control, alongside components including model reporting, security risk management, incident response, external expert engagement, and mechanisms for framework updates.
OpenAI states that it will continuously update the framework in response to advancements in model capabilities, evaluation methodologies, and evolving regulatory requirements to maintain alignment with legal standards. The full PDF document is now publicly available for download.
