ChainThink Note: Funding rates are fees set by cryptocurrency exchanges to maintain equilibrium between perpetual contract prices and underlying asset prices. They primarily apply to perpetual contracts. Funding rates serve as a mechanism for capital transfer between long and short positions, with no fee charged by the exchange itself. This mechanism adjusts the cost or return of holding contracts, ensuring that contract prices remain closely aligned with the spot price of the underlying asset.
A funding rate of 0.01% represents the baseline. When the funding rate exceeds 0.01%, it indicates a generally bullish market sentiment. When the funding rate falls below 0.005%, it signals widespread bearish sentiment.
