ChainThink report, March 12: Recently, as the popularity of OpenClaw AI agents continues to surge, the "Lobster Installation Craze" has triggered price hikes and stock shortages across related hardware equipment markets. Today, reporters observed at a second-hand equipment wholesale stall in Shenzhen's Huaqiangbei Electronics World that nearly half a dozen customer groups visited within just 20 minutes to inquire about hardware compatible with OpenClaw deployment environments. One consumer shared: "I specifically traveled from Guizhou today just to buy a host enclosure for my 'Lobster'—I've visited multiple stores, but all are out of stock, and prices keep rising." After surveying several second-hand wholesalers, reporters received consistent responses: "Demand is high, but supply is nonexistent. Prices have risen by around ¥1,000 from previous levels of over ¥3,000."

Moreover, the "Lobster Fever" has impacted the entire AI hardware ecosystem. Numerous manufacturers are actively exploring integration of OpenClaw—the "new brain"—into their products to unlock new functionalities and attract consumers. A representative from an AI hardware solutions provider noted: "We've seen the trend of integrating 'Lobster' into hardware since the beginning of this year. Smart terminals such as AI eyewear, smart home devices, and learning machines are all undergoing compatibility updates." While the "Lobster Farming" craze remains strong, a new business opportunity has emerged: "Uninstalling Lobster." With the popularity of "Lobster Farming," concerns over its security risks have also intensified. Authorities have consequently issued multiple safety advisories regarding "Lobster Farming."
