ChainThink News, March 13: Recently, the Tron community has officially initiated a discussion on the proposal to activate new features in v4.8.1, aiming to adjust the execution behavior and cost of the SELFDESTRUCT instruction within the Tron Virtual Machine (TVM) to further enhance compatibility with Ethereum's EIP-6780.

According to the current proposal, if the feature is ultimately enabled, the SELFDESTRUCT instruction will only permanently delete a contract when invoked within the same transaction that created it; in all other cases, it will transfer the contract’s assets without deleting the contract itself. Additionally, the energy consumption of this instruction will be adjusted from 0 to 5000.

The proposal remains in the community discussion phase. The Tron developer community is actively debating its functional impact, deployment timeline, and ecosystem adaptation, with the final decision on activation to be determined by community consensus.

The Tron community also encourages developers to participate in the discussion and advises those using the SELFDESTRUCT instruction to closely monitor the proposal’s progress and prepare for necessary adaptations in advance.
