ChainThink report: On March 13, Thomas Rénier, spokesperson for the European Commission responsible for digital economy affairs, stated during a press briefing that Elon Musk's social media platform X has submitted a remediation plan regarding its "blue checkmark certification" to the European Commission.
The European Commission issued its first "non-compliance decision" under the Digital Services Act in December 2025, imposing a fine of €120 million on the X platform. The EU accused X of allowing the "blue checkmark certification" to be obtained solely through payment, with interface design elements misleading users; the platform’s ad library failed to meet requirements for transparency and accessibility; and X did not grant access to public data for qualified researchers as mandated.
