Argentine Court Orders Comprehensive Block on Polymarket

Argentine Court Orders Comprehensive Block on Polymarket

2026-03-17 10:59

ChainThink report, March 17, according to CriptoNoticias, the Buenos Aires Court ordered a full blockade of the prediction market platform Polymarket on March 16, 2026, to be enforced by the national communications regulatory body ENACOM, and required Google and Apple to remove its applications from local app stores.

The blockade stems from a complaint filed by the Buenos Aires Lottery (LOTBA), which determined that Polymarket, operating under the guise of a "prediction market," in fact runs an unlicensed online gambling operation. The platform lacks mandatory identity and age verification, posing significant user risks. Argentina thus becomes the second country in Latin America, after Colombia, to impose a comprehensive restriction on this platform.
