View OriginalChainThink report, March 20: Dan Romero, co-founder of Farcaster (previously joined Tempo), published a post clarifying five misconceptions about MPP. Dan stated that MPP is not exclusive to Tempo; the protocol is agnostic to payment methods and supports cryptocurrencies, fiat currencies, and any blockchain. It has already been extended to Bitcoin Lightning Network (Bitcoin Lightning) and has draft implementations for Solana.
Regarding cost, MPP itself incurs no inherent fees—specific costs depend on the underlying blockchain or fiat channel used. On openness, MPP is designed with simplicity and scalability in mind and has already been submitted as a web standard to the IETF.
Moreover, MPP supports both Pay-per-request and Session-based modes, with the latter optimized for continuous microtransactions requiring high API throughput. Dan also emphasized that MPP achieves a separation between secure HTTP communication and payment channels, without reliance on specific smart wallet implementations or stablecoins.
