View OriginalChainThink report, March 24: According to 1M AI News monitoring, ByteDance's AI video generation model Seedance 2.0 and image model Seedream 5.0 Lite have been launched globally via the overseas AI creativity platform Dreamina, initially covering Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil, and Mexico.
Seedance 2.0 supports multimodal input including text, images, audio, and video, capable of generating videos up to 15 seconds in length at 1080p resolution. In an independent blind test by Artificial Analysis, Seedance 2.0 ranked first in the text-to-video category with an Elo score of 1269, outperforming Google Veo3, OpenAI Sora, and Kuaishou’s Ke Ling in image-to-video generation.
The current launch includes explicit safety restrictions: uploading real human images is not supported. After Seedance 2.0’s initial release in China in February, user-generated videos featuring celebrities such as Tom Cruise went viral on social media, prompting Disney to accuse ByteDance of "digital piracy of Disney IP" and issue a cease-and-desist letter. Paramount, Netflix, and other studios followed suit. According to The Information on March 15, ByteDance has paused its originally scheduled global rollout planned for mid-March, requiring engineering and legal teams to first resolve compliance issues. The pause-to-resume window lasted approximately one week, with the ban on real human facial content considered the most visible compromise.
