ChainThink report: According to official disclosure at EthCC[9], Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of The Sandbox, announced that the first round of stress testing for mobile-native game The Sandbox NEXT has officially commenced on March 26.


The game abandons the previously used Unity engine in favor of Unreal Engine development, aiming to deliver enhanced visual fidelity and physics engine performance on mobile devices. NEXT is a multiplayer battle royale survival game supporting up to 20 players simultaneously, featuring optimized auto-aim and shooting mechanics tailored for mobile. The initial release includes two maps—“Desert” and “City,” allowing players to seamlessly transfer their identities, gameplay progress, and NFT assets from The Sandbox’s main platform directly to mobile use.


Sebastien Borget further stated that NEXT will synergize with SANDchain, The Sandbox’s Layer-2 network built on ZKsync, scheduled for launch in September 2025. The low-cost transactions enabled by the L2 will support asset minting and market trading demands for mobile users.
