ChainThink report, April 10: According to Reuters, artificial intelligence lab Anthropic is exploring the possibility of designing proprietary AI chips to address the shortage of semiconductors used to power and develop more advanced AI systems.

The initiative remains in its early stages, with no specific design plans or dedicated team established yet. The company may ultimately decide to solely procure chips instead of developing them in-house. Currently, Anthropic leverages a range of hardware—including Google TPUs and Amazon-designed chips—to develop and run its AI model, Claude.
