View OriginalChainThink news, according to the Associated Press, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated in a parliamentary address that Zondacrypto, a cryptocurrency firm with Russian origins, had funded the campaign of current President Karol Nawrocki and sponsored last year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held in Poland.
Tusk further alleged that Zondacrypto’s funding channels were linked to the Russian organized crime syndicate “Bratva” and Russian intelligence agencies, contending that Nawrocki’s two vetoes of crypto asset market regulation bills within the past six months constituted an undue favoritism toward the company.
The company served as a strategic sponsor of CPAC’s March 2025 event, during which U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem publicly endorsed Nawrocki’s candidacy.
The Presidential Office responded by asserting that Nawrocki is not opposed to regulation per se, but rather believes the government’s proposed regulatory framework contains critical flaws. The Polish government is currently working on new regulations to align the country’s crypto market with EU standards.
