ChainThink report, April 23: According to recent reports, Sooth Labs, an AI research lab founded by former Meta employees, is completing a $50 million funding round at an approximate valuation of $335 million. The round is led by Felicis Ventures, with participation from Yann LeCun and Jeff Dean, Chief Scientist at Google, while Andrew Bosworth, CTO of Meta, serves as advisor.

Sooth Labs is headquartered in Pittsburgh, with its founding team drawn from Meta AI and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). CEO Yaser Sheikh is a visiting professor at CMU and previously served as Vice President at Meta;

Co-founder Ruslan Salakhutdinov is a professor at CMU and a protégé of Geoffrey Hinton. He formerly served as Apple’s first Head of AI Research before joining Meta for AI research.

The lab aims to train AI models that help enterprises forecast the probability of geopolitical and market events. Its models are trained on large-scale, cross-industry datasets and support multimodal inputs including video, audio, and text, enabling users to directly query the likelihood of specific events.

In product demonstrations, the system projected a 16% probability of the WHO declaring another global pandemic before 2028, and a 33% probability of Anthropic going public this year—targeting clients across finance, defense, insurance, and real estate sectors.
