ChainThink News, May 6: According to public information, Finland-based AI lab QuTwo has completed a €25 million (approximately $29 million) pre-seed round, post-money valuation reaching €325 million (around $380 million).

The company’s founder and Executive Chairman, Peter Sarlin, previously founded Silo AI, which was acquired by AMD for $665 million in 2024. In this round, he actively declined large checks from multiple VCs and strategic investors, opting exclusively for angel investment.

QuTwo’s core product is QuTwo OS, a computational orchestration layer capable of distributing workloads across classical chips, quantum processors, or hybrid architectures.

The company has already secured approximately €20 million in contract revenue, with clients including retailer Zalando and OP Financial Group, Finland’s largest financial services provider.

The angel investor roster includes Yuri Milner, founder of DST Global; Xavier Niel, founder of French telecom giant Iliad; Niklas Zennström, co-founder of Skype; Thomas Wolf, co-founder of Hugging Face; former F1 champion Nico Rosberg; and founders of companies such as Supercell, Wolt, Miro, and Legora.

The team comprises around 50 members, with co-founders including Kaj-Mikael Björk, former research lead at Silo AI, and Kuan Yen Tan, co-founder of IQM.

Sarlin stated that Europe failed to produce a leading AI company during the previous paradigm shift from CPU to GPU. This time, QuTwo is betting on the transition from GPU to QPU (quantum processing units), and choosing a small pre-seed round to preserve five to ten years of long-term R&D autonomy.
