ChainThink report, June 21: According to Ben Goertzel, Chairman of the AGI Association and Chief Scientist of Sophia Robot, general artificial intelligence should not be controlled by venture capital firms or a handful of tech companies. He advocates building an open, decentralized AGI framework via blockchain networks, as an alternative to closed-model approaches like those pursued by OpenAI and Anthropic.

He stated that the initiative is currently being advanced through SingularityNET and the "Artificial Superintelligence Alliance," with the goal of enabling AI capabilities to be collectively owned and maintained by global users.

He emphasized that merely open-sourcing code is insufficient—AGI must also operate on distributed infrastructure, otherwise it remains vulnerable to control by a small number of compute providers.

Goertzel also proposed the concept of an "AI agent economy," where users can deploy multiple AI agents to collaboratively complete tasks and execute transactions. The future system will offer paid AI services while maintaining a decentralized backend architecture, all without exposing the underlying blockchain structure.

He anticipates AGI may emerge between 2027 and 2030, warning that if technological advancement becomes concentrated in only a few nations or corporations, it could exacerbate global inequality. His first AI agent product, Omega Claw, will be released imminently.
