ChainThink report, August 5: According to a notice from Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission, Taiwan will implement the Virtual Asset Travel Rule (Travel Rule) in phases.

The first phase is expected to apply to transfers among domestic Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) starting October 2026, while the second phase will expand coverage to cross-border transfers by the end of 2027.

After implementation, users must provide and disclose basic information of both sender and recipient to VASP platforms when transferring virtual currencies, regardless of transaction amount, including names and wallet addresses.

If a single transfer exceeds the equivalent of TWD 30,000, individuals must additionally provide date of birth and residential address; for legal entities, official identification numbers and registered office addresses must be furnished, with counterpart platforms required to conduct simultaneous due diligence verification.
