ChainThink report, citing sources, SpaceX completed the $60 billion acquisition of Cursor on the same day Elon Musk delivered his first address to the entire Cursor workforce.

He acknowledged that Grok lags behind competitors, stating he “is not accustomed to losing,” and demanded that Cursor help SpaceXAI rapidly close the gap. Musk unusually praised his rivals, noting that Anthropic is currently leading in AI and represents a formidable competitor.

Meanwhile, he believes AI will ultimately become so powerful that humans can no longer control it, thus SpaceXAI must achieve technological breakthroughs ahead of other companies. Following the acquisition, Cursor employees have already begun integrating into various teams within SpaceXAI.

Cursor CEO Michael Truell reports directly to Musk, while the two co-founders have joined the pre-training and machine learning teams, respectively.

Cursor’s official statement confirmed the completion of the acquisition, affirming that both parties will jointly advance products such as Grok and Cursor.
