ChainThink News, August 25: According to an official announcement, Grayscale has launched the Zcash Spot ETF (ticker: ZCSH), which is now officially listed and trading on the NYSE Arca, becoming the world’s first exchange-traded product offering direct spot exposure to Zcash (ZEC).

The product was previously known as the Grayscale Zcash Trust, established in private placement form in October 2017. Grayscale states that ZCSH aims to meet investor demand for exposure to cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum through traditional brokerage accounts.

Steve Vanourny, Head of Grayscale Index Products, stated that Zcash boasts nearly a decade of network history, a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins, a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism, and optional privacy features, positioning it as a high-risk satellite allocation within a digital asset portfolio.

Market attention remains focused on previously disclosed critical privacy system vulnerabilities in Zcash. In May this year, researchers identified exploitable flaws in the Zcash Orchard privacy pool, which could allow attackers to forge ZEC tokens.

Zcash deployed an emergency patch in June and activated the Ironwood upgrade in July to replace the vulnerable privacy pool, while introducing new supply accounting rules to restrict potential forged ZEC from entering circulation.

Grayscale stated that future focus will be on Ironwood upgrade adoption, cybersecurity, exchange support, and regulatory developments concerning privacy-focused assets.
