6 Dormant Bitcoin Wallets Over 10 Years Old Transfer Approximately $40 Million in Funds Within a Week

ChainThink report, August 27: According to Decrypt, data from Galaxy Research shows that six dormant Bitcoin wallets, inactive from 2011 to 2014, transferred a total of 553.59 BTC between August 16 and 26, valued at approximately $40.15 million.

These wallets had been dormant for approximately 10.5 to 15.1 years, with the earliest traceable activity dating back to June 2011. The funds have not yet been clearly linked to exchanges, though one transaction was directed to Boerse Stuttgart Digital, a German custodial institution.

On-chain analysis suggests this resurgence in activity among legacy wallets may be related to asset movements by long-term holders following the New York “dormant address” lawsuit and recent hardware wallet security incidents.
