ChainThink News, September 3: According to market intelligence, the situation in the Middle East continues to escalate. Iran responded to U.S. airstrikes by targeting U.S. assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Erbil, Iraq, claiming to have downed 50 U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones.

The U.S. airstrikes have resulted in 18 fatalities and 108 injuries. Israel's Defense Minister stated that the U.S.-led strike against Iran has destroyed Iran's nuclear program, and Israel is prepared for retaliation. Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been significantly disrupted, with Qatar and UAE LNG shipments shifting to ship-to-ship transfers.

On Monday, 17 million barrels of oil passed through the strait; over the past 10 days, only about 13 commercial vessels have transited daily. The Saudi Foreign Ministry reported that Iran attacked its "Siddar" vessel, while Iran updated its list of non-compliant vessels to 57 ships.

Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, the Iranian rial has plunged to a new all-time low against the U.S. dollar, breaching the 2.2 million mark.
