ChainThink News, October 12: According to market data, Microsoft's stock reached a near-one-year high, rising 0.8% intra-day.

Microsoft plans to gradually increase the proportion of its in-house AI chips in data centers to reduce reliance on NVIDIA GPUs, with future AI model requests primarily handled by the Maia chip architecture and deployed with multi-gigawatt-scale compute capacity.

Microsoft has unveiled the third-generation AI accelerator chip, Maia 300, expected to enter production in 2027. Each data center rack can accommodate 96 Maia 300 chips—double that of the Maia 200.

Compared to GPUs, Maia 300 achieves up to seven times higher AI Token processing per rack and approximately 40% improvement in tokens processed per megawatt.

Evercore ISI analysts estimate that by Q1 2027, Maia chips will account for approximately 10% of Microsoft’s AI chip spending.
