ENSv2 Officially Launches on Ethereum Mainnet

ChainThink report, October 27: ENSv2 officially launches on the Ethereum mainnet.

The new version introduces a hierarchical registry and a more granular permission model, enabling individual domains to function as standalone on-chain registries, supporting customizable subdomain issuance rules, partitioned authorization management, updated domain resolution methods, and shared record linking.

The new ENS App is tailored for general users, while ENS Explorer is designed for developers. ENS states that the ecosystem currently supports over 36 million domains, integrated across more than 600 applications.

Existing .eth domains will continue to function normally without requiring re-registration; users may voluntarily upgrade via the ENS App starting today.

After upgrading all eligible domains, users can claim a commemorative ENSv2 NFT designed by artist Polyhop, limited to one per wallet, with an Ethereum network Gas fee required.

Applications including 1inch, MetaMask, Safe, Uniswap, PayPal, Venmo, and OpenSea have already begun compatibility updates for ENSv2.
