Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Discovers 8 Potential Risks, Hoodi Testnet Fork Delayed

ChainThink report, November 6: According to an announcement from the Ethereum Foundation, security firm ChainSecurity has identified that certain invariants relied upon by projects may become invalid following the Glamsterdam upgrade. The relevant adjustments involve modifications to gas costs for specific operations and state gas billing mechanisms under EIP-8037 and EIP-8038.

As a result, the Ethereum Core Developers (ACD) have decided to postpone the hard fork process and will not initiate the fork on the Hoodi testnet at this time, pending resolution of these issues before proceeding.

The Ethereum Foundation states it is collaborating with multiple auditing firms to conduct reviews and internal audits, though it cannot cover all on-chain and off-chain code across every project.

The Foundation urges contract developers and auditors to verify whether their projects depend on the affected eight invariants and has created a dedicated GitHub repository providing documentation, examples, and self-audit prompts.
