ChainThink report, November 24, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev stated on the a16z podcast that the securities lending market is a significant revenue source for brokers and counterparties, but it operates with extreme opacity and inefficiency. A large number of transactions are still facilitated through chat tools in Bloomberg terminals, with peer-to-peer matching.

If these assets are tokenized, they can form liquidity pools, making the entire process extremely simple. Imagine using a protocol like Aave to directly lend or borrow stocks, which would be far more efficient and user-friendly for end users compared to the current complex system that has evolved over decades.
