ChainThink report, on December 12, Brennan Watt, Vice President of Core Engineering at Anza, a research and development company focused on Solana, stated at the Solana Breakpoint conference that Proposal SIMD-0389 could reduce Solana account creation rent by a factor of 10, potentially extending to up to a 100-fold reduction.
Note: In the Solana network, Account Rent refers to the "storage fee" mechanism required to maintain an Account (account) on-chain permanently for data storage.
According to Anza's analysis of the security throttling mechanism, this change was discussed at the recent SolanaConf and could unlock broader adoption by recycling hundreds of millions of dormant SOL while maintaining network security.
