ChainThink report, December 30: According to The Block, Neel Somani, founder of the Ethereum L2 protocol Eclipse, has stepped down from his role as Executive Chairman starting October 2025. Somani stated this move is to fully dedicate himself to machine learning and other intellectual research initiatives.

Somani founded the company in 2022, raising $15 million in seed funding with the initial goal of building scalability solutions leveraging Solana’s Virtual Machine (SVM). The project subsequently pivoted to developing a high-performance Ethereum L2 in 2023, completing a $50 million Series A round in 2024 before transitioning from CEO to Executive Chairman. The leadership transition was founder-led and pre-planned, with no changes to equity holdings or board governance rights.
